GGC Transportation, LLC is seeking dependable, safety-focused CDL Class A Drivers for both local and over-the-road operations. Drivers are responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight while maintaining compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. This position requires professionalism, excellent customer service, and a commitment to safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles in accordance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Transport freight to customers and vendors while ensuring on-time pickup and delivery.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and accurately complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Secure cargo using appropriate load securement techniques and verify load accuracy before departure.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs), trip reports, fuel receipts, and required documentation.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding load status, delays, maintenance concerns, and delivery updates.
- Practice defensive driving techniques and operate equipment safely in varying weather and road conditions.
- Report accidents, incidents, traffic violations, or equipment failures immediately.
- Keep assigned tractor and trailer clean and presentable.
- Comply with all company safety policies and customer site requirements.
- Represent GGC Transportation professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and the public.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight when required.
Local Driver Responsibilities:
- Complete multiple pickups and deliveries within the assigned service area.
- Return to the home terminal daily unless otherwise scheduled.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate changing delivery schedules.
Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver Responsibilities:
- Operate throughout regional or nationwide routes.
- Remain away from home for scheduled trips as assigned.
- Plan routes efficiently while complying with Hours of Service regulations.
- Ensure all shipping documentation is complete and accurate throughout the trip.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
- Ability to operate Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Flatbed, dry van, reefer, or specialized freight experience.
- Forklift experience (preferred but not required).
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (preferred, if applicable).
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
- Climb into and out of tractors and trailers safely.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and climb as necessary.
- Sit for extended periods while driving.
- Meet all DOT physical qualification standards.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Extended driving periods.
- Day, night, weekend, holiday, and overnight work may be required.
- Exposure to warehouse, dock, and customer facility environments.
